Today I’m sharing the love and spreading the word for a couple of literary crowd source funding projects that deserve attention.
First up: Bundoran Press’s anthology, Second Contacts. Last year Hayden Trenholm used Indiegogo to fund the anthology Strange Bedfellows to great success. Here’s what he has to say about the theme for this new project:
“Second Contacts will seek stories, from the best writers in the field, which explore the consequences of first contact, for us, for them, for our shared future. The possibilities are endless — conquest, collaboration, assimilation, or separation. On earth, in space, or on alien planets, what will happen to individuals and societies after two generations or more of staring into alien eyes?”
The anthology will happen no matter what, but the campaign will allow Bundoran to offer professional rates and attract some of the best SF writers. Also, Bundoran is based right here in Ottawa. Support local publishers FTW! There are only 10 days left and a ways to go yet.
The second project I want to call to your attention, is Reading Rainbow. LeVar Burton is hard at work to bring the beloved show back, onto the web, into classrooms and make it available to children around the globe. But you don’t have to take my word for it. 😉
It’s been only one day and it has already exceeded the goals but the more they raise the more children will have access to Reading Rainbow.
